Understanding Dental Oncology

To provide patients with quality dental care and to promote oral health in general, The Dental Department at Cachar Cancer Hospital was established in 2008. Because patients from the NE Region tend to chew betel nuts, areca nuts, gutkha, and quid, they are more likely to get oral cancer, which affects between 50 and 60 per cent of patients who come to our hospital. In addition, oral cleanliness and maintenance are crucial for the surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy that oral cancer patients must get.

Mouth sores, infections, tooth decay, mucositis, glossitis, and xerostomia can all be side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In these situations, oral care and treatment are critical.

By offering oral health care & preventative therapy for conserving & strengthening the current dentition, we assist cancer patients in getting their mouths in shape for the approaching treatment. In addition, we supplement patient care, especially for individuals receiving surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy, using defined accepted principles.
