Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (CCHRC) was established in 1996. It is a comprehensive cancer centre with activities centred around:

  • Cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection
  • Diagnostics – Pathology, Radiology and Molecular Diagnostics
  • Comprehensive treatment – Surgery, Radiation, Chemotherapy and Palliative Care
  • Cancer research
  • Cancer education

Our Mission

The hospital sees over 4000 new patients and over 17000 follow up visits of patients annually. The patient profile is:

  • 80% are daily wage earners
  • 80% of them have family sizes of over 5 members
  • 59% earn Rs.10000 or less per month
  • 37% of the 59% above earn Rs. 6000 or less per month
  • 45% live in kaccha houses
  • Many of them are daily wage workers, tea garden and agricultural labourers
  • Tobacco use is the main cause
  • Poverty prevents early detection
